Two Chinese world champions proved their mettle when they grabbed the world title for the second straight time in the diving events on Saturday, July 25, at the FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

According to reports, Chinese Olympic champion Wu Minxia and two-time world champion Shi Tingmao clinched their second-straight world title in the three-meter women's synchronized springboard event.

The latest victory gave Wu Minxia, 29 years old and the oldest champion in the event, her eighth world title in as many world championship showings.

The Chinese duo scored above 80 in the final three dives, leading to a total of 351.30 points and gave China another gold medal it won on July 25. The tandem also won at the previous world championships in Barcelona, Spain, in 2013.

The second place went to Canada, with Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware scoring 319.47, including 72- and 73-pointers over the final three rounds.

In the women's 10-meter, China's champions, Si Yajie and Tai Xiaohu, also clinched the gold after the pair led the pack from start to end in the event for the mixed 10-meter platform dive.

The pair scored 350.88, well ahead of Canada, which got second place with a score of 309.66, followed by Australia, which scored 308.22 to get bronze.

Ukraine and Italy also scored more than 300 to take the fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The Americans placed ninth, an improvement on the 13th place finish in the Mixed Synchro Platform event.

With the two diving golds and one synchronized swimming bronze, China now leads the rank in the medals count.
