The 72nd Venice International Film Festival will be held on the Lido of Venice from Sept. 2 to12. Venice Film Festival chief Alberto Barbera has announced a lineup for the 72nd running of the event on July 29, Wednesday.

The festival established in 1932 was organized by La Biennale di Venezia and is officially recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF)The lineup includes Drake Doremus' futuristic "Equals" with Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult, Luca Guadagnino's "A Bigger Splash" with Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson and Ralph Fiennes, and Cary Fukunaga's "Beasts of No Nation" starring Idris Elba.

The 72nd Venice festival will open with the world premiere of Baltasar Kormakur's "Everest," starring Gyllenhaal and Robin Wright.  On Sept. 12, a jury spearheaded by Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron will award the Golden Lion for best film and other prizes.

The festival will conclude with Guan Hu's film "Mr. Six." Actress and director Elisa Sednaoui will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival.

The festival poster featured Nastassja Kinski in front as reminiscent of Wim Wenders's Paris, Texas. Wim Wenders is a German filmmaker, playwright, author, and photographer.

In the backdrop it featured the character of Antoine Doinel portrayed by Jean-Pierre Léaud from François Truffaut's 1959 drama film "The 400 Blows. The character of Antoine Doinel also appeared in 71st Venice International Film Festival poster.
