"Final Fantasy VII" battle system will undergo dramatic changes for its upcoming PlayStation 4 remake as confirmed by Square-Enix.  A PlayStation ad had recently slated the remake launch for 2016, but to date, Square Enix has not released anything official for the "Final Fantasy VII" remake release date.

Nomura, speaking to the Official PlayStation Magazine, confirmed that there will be updates and changes on the traditional active time battle (ATB) system of the original game, Games Radar reported.

Nomura told the publication "And of course, that being said, we want to clarify: We're not going to be changing it into a shooter or something like that." He added that "We are going to be bringing dramatic changes, but we want to make sure it's still recognizable."

"Final Fantasy 7" did not utilize a turn-based system from the beginning, since the ATB system will allow enemies to attack while players choose their actions and switch between the characters to control.  Most probably, this feature will be changed or modified to look like the action-based system that was used in "Final Fantasy XII," "Final Fantasy XV," and "Kingdom Hearts."

Nomura previously stated in a report by Game Spot that while they are changing things to tailor the game to a more modern technology and for the liking of the audience today, they do not want to alter the game so drastically and retain things that make the original game iconic.  Players will be happy to know that the original plot points and the mechanics of the game that players associate with "Final Fantasy vii" PS4 will still be present in the remake.

Although no definite release date has been announced, this "Final Fantasy" remake is definitely scheduled to be released on PlayStation 4.  Before the end of 2015, the original game will be released in a PS4 port of the Steam version so that fans can go back to using the original if in case the remake disappoints them.
