It may not be the most powerful and sexiest of phones but the Moto X 2015 is compelling enough to lure in Android fans and drop the competition, chiefly the Google Nexus 2015. The latest Moto X flagship offers the right mix of build, specs and features that those waiting for the next Nexus can just forget about its release date.
Why wait when the 2015 Moto X, which in the U.S. will unbox as Moto X Pure Edition while the rest of the world will get the device as Moto X Style, packs just the right features that translate to a convincing buy. Droid Life picks out four:
World phone
Motorola highlights the fact that universal LTE banding is baked in with the third-gen Moto X, meaning buyers in the United States, for instance, can use the device on any network service provider and be assured of access to high speed wireless internet. Likely, it will be the same thing for international users - that they can technically use the device in any location provided the compatible cellular and LTE infrastructures are available.
Pure Android experience
Essentially, the Moto X 2015 preempts the Nexus 2015 (any of the rumored LG Bullhead or Huawei Angler) as Motorola decided to flavor the device with vanilla Android. And to really purify the whole Android, the Moto X will touchdown without any carrier tie up.
For users, that would mean freedom to choose the network service provider they choose and the package that these companies offer. They will be free from any contract obligations. Another benefit and major one at that is the absence of bloatwares and features both from telcos and Motorola though Motorola tends to include phone functionalities that for the most part have been welcomed by users.
Direct Google update
The Nexus brand boasts of direct access to Android updates regularly deploy by Google but with the Moto X 2015 this is no longer the case. Software-wise, the Moto flagship is native Android in the same way that the Nexus 2015 will be, Motorola assures.
This means that the Lollipop 5.1.1 that came with the new Moto X will be quickly updated to Android M when the latter becomes available. The Moto X 2015 is Motorola's flagship and at stating price of $400, the unlocked phone is the first of its kind in America, Droid Life said on its report. Capable and affordable used to be a Nexus exclusive that obviously will never be the same for the Nexus 2015.
And the deal breaker for the Google Nexus 2015 is nothing really is confirmed about the device - like when the actual release date is, what to expect come unpacking time and will it come cheaper this year - while the Moto X 2015 is already up for grabs from Motorola and its global retail partners.
