The two clubs have been negotiating the past several weeks for the services of 29-year-old forward. City was asking for a €30-million fee for the Sarajevo native, but Roma is said to be willing to pay €10 million less but including some bonuses.

It was speculated that both teams met in the middle and a €23-million agreement with bonuses was met, although there are no official figures released as of the moment. The only thing sure is that the Citizens' manager Manuel Pellegrini had already approved of Džeko's departure from the Etihad.

Bleacher Report indicated that the 6-foot-4 forward is coming off a disappointing season as he scored only six goals in 31 games last year for City.

With the recent addition of 20-year-old rising star and scoring winger Raheem Sterling from Liverpool, it was rumored that Pellegrini no longer has a need for the Bosnian scorer. City is also reportedly targeting Wolfsburg winger Kevin De Bruyne to pair with Sterling as their scoring duo.

With head coach Rudi Garcia and i Giallorossi, it is expected that Džeko will be given more touches and opportunity to revive his career and play at his best.

Garcia's lineup is said to be lacking in legitimate scorers up front, which is something that Džeko could clearly provide, as no one among his players have made more than eight goals in the whole of last season.
