"Rocky" star Sylvester Stallone, 69, has announced that he will auction some of the props from his films. Having gone through his collection of mementos, he is also setting aside props for the auction which is set to take place in October.
Items from Stallone's 1976 film "Rocky" such as Rocky's gloves, boxing trunks, Rambo's knife and Army jacket will be among the items to be auctioned in two months time.
Inspired to auction his collection of props following a recent sale of John Wayne movie memorabilia, Stallone told Sky News he wanted to be alive to see people enjoy the auctioned items.
The star told the news channel that he plans to donate proceeds from the auction to military service members as a way of saying thank you. He said it was away for him to pay back the real people behind the inspiration to the characters he has portrayed onscreen.
Stallone is far from hanging up his gloves, instead he is preparing to reprise his role as the famed boxer in the movie "Creed" which is set to be released this fall. In addition, he is also working on another installment of the Rambo series, according to CBC News.
In an interview with the news channel, Stallone said the demand for onscreen superheroes and characters as those he played has left little room for him to do "man against the odds" characters which he would prefer to play.
The movie "Creed" is being written and directed by Ryan Coogler and Stallone will play Rocky, however this time he will not be in the ring, but will play the part of a coach to an upcoming boxing star who will be played by Michael B. Jordan.
