The latest leaked details on Google's Nexus 2015 release date plans largely confirmed two things - that two vanilla Android flagships are on their way and they obviously are designed to slug it out with Apple's headlining smartphones, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. And owning the next-generation Nexus will not require too much cash damage.

Rumor has it that from the pricey Nexus 6, Google will make the successor more accessible and there were suggestions that the refresh will retail for no more than $500. It appears now, basing on the latest report from Gizmo China, that it will be exactly the case - that the Nexus 5 2015 will be cheaper than the 2014 model.

The same report claimed that new Nexus will be offered in 32GB and 64GB configurations, the former will sell for $350 and the latter at $400. Now that would be $100 less from the projection made earlier by blog reports. Google not only heeded the call of its loyal fans but the tech giant also made a key adjustment that is too tempting to pass up.

And for no more than $400, pure Android fans will take home a high-specced kit and whatever their choice are from the two Nexus 5 2015 models on the pot that toy will surely be a slugger against its rivals, the iPhone 6S chief among them.

The leak that Gizmo China had picked up outlined the following specs:

  • A 5.2-inch OLED HD display in 1080p resolution. It is said that LG and Google deliberately avoided a 2K panel for now to keep the Nexus 2015 within the affordable zone.
  • An eight-core Snapdragon 620 chip with up to 4GB of RAM. Originally, speculations pointed on the Snapdragon 820 as the next Nexus main engine but opting for the 620 made the device buyer-friendly.
  • A camera system with a 13MP rear shooter that is laced with a 6-element f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization or OIS and laser auto focus. The front-facing cam has a 4MP sensor. These shooting specs indicated that LG somehow modelled the Nexus 5 2015 after the LG G4.
  • A 3180mAh battery with wireless charging baked in, again reliving one of the more popular features of the original Nexus 5.
  • The power button is rear-located and is embedded with a fingerprint scanner as indicated previously that Android M will natively support biometric features.
  • A USB Type-C Connector with Quick Charging technology is also said to be on board, which promises not only superfast power recharging but also quick data transfer.
  • Finally, the Nexus 5 2015 frame is reportedly made of metal but the back plate is of scratch-resistant plastic with matte finish.

The same Gizmo China report also provided a glimpse of the Huawei Nexus but not as detailed as its LG counterpart. This phablet-size Nexus, the blog site said, is able to measure with the iPhone 6 Plus or the iPhone 6S Plus. The Huawei Angler sports a hulking 5.7-inch screen profile and the front panel fires up thanks to WQHD AMOLED display technology, doubling too as viewfinder to the 21MP main shooter that makes use of IMX230 sensor.

Housing the bigger Nexus is a rock-solid metal unibody and like the Nexus 5 2015, the rear cover is designed to accommodate wire-free recharging.

The Android M-powered Nexus 2015 package discussed above points to Google's firm resolve to finally take on Apple (and likely Samsung as well) with battle-worthy twin flagships on release date, which for this year is said to happen earlier than expected.
