The 2016 i-MiEV is Mitsubishi's flagship in the growing market of electric car. Released in March, the electric car goes head-to-head with heavyweights like the Chevy Volt, the Nissan Leaf and the Tesla Model S.

The 2016 Mitsubishi i-MiEV has a sitting capacity for four adults and with a price tag of $22,995. It is the most modestly priced electric car in the United States. However, in order to build an electric car within that price range, Mitsubishi has to cut some corners especially in range and performance of the car.

According to The Car Connection, the flagship electric car from Mitsubishi has the range of any battery-operated electric car in the US. It has an average drive mileage of around 62 miles before the battery runs out.

The 2016 i-MiEV is the second model in Mitsubishi's electric car family. The last model was released in 2014. One of the changes made on the new model is the optional navigation system which has a 7-inch touchscreen display coupled with real-time traffic data. The Navigation package of the car includes a USB port, a rearview camera and Bluetooth support for hands-free phone pairing.

Despite being one of the most affordable electric cars in the market, the Mitsubishi only managed to sell around 2,000 units of the car since it went on sale in 2012.

According to Mitsubishi, the 2016 i-MiEV engine has a power output of 66 horsepower and 145 pound-to-feet torque. Fuel economy ranges from 126MPGe for City, 99MPGe for Highway and 122MPGe combined. Some of its interior feature includes, a heated six-way manual adjustable driver seat, a four-way manual adjustable front passenger's seat which is heated as well.
