The latest "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 spoilers revealed that Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) will be close to tying the knot in the season premiere. On the other hand, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy's (Mayim Bialik) relationship could reportedly end for good.
In the season 8 finale, fans saw both relationships fall apart: Leonard admitted that she cheated on Penny, while Amy broke up with Sheldon. As Cinema Blend pointed out, comedy shows do not usually end on cliffhangers as much as drama series. The season 9 premiere episode will pick up a few hours just after the last episode with Penny and Leonard en route to Las Vegas for an impromptu wedding.
The publication reported that the show producers are in the process of casting a male actor in his fifties to play the role of the minister. Although it has yet to be confirmed if the couple will actually tie the knot, the outlet pointed out that the Leonard and Penny's engagement could not possibly drag on for another season.
Meanwhile, Bialik has already been signed to reprise her role as Amy in the CBS series. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Steve Molaro admitted that the writers have yet to figure out what will happen to the couple after the break up.
Sheldon and Amy have been together for five years and many fans are starting to wonder if their relationship could actually lead somewhere. The humorous banter is fun to watch but the audience is craving for something more. Molaro promised that they could expect a lot of exciting revelations when "The Big Bang Theory" season 9 premieres.
