The Samsung Exynos 742 octa-core chip, the same chip that Galaxy S6 has, may extend to devices outside the Samsung family. It has been reported that the China-based electronics company Meizu is crafting a brand new upscale phone, featuring the Samsung's chip.

Meizu has successfully launched the MX5 smartphones and reports are now saying that the smartphone manufacturer is making plans to release a Pro model for the MX5. However, other reports have also revealed that Meizu may perhaps abandon its plans for a MX5 Pro and develop a whole new device instead, featuring the Exynos 7420 chip, Phone Arena said.

The Meizu upcoming device is expected to sport a double-sided glass, metal design and is going to have a price tag of $483.

Something that might have affected Meizu's decision to feature Exynos 7420 is the bad publicity for the Snapdragon 810 chip which powered a number of devices this year. Apparently, those devices that featured the chip have experienced overheating problems, which led to a huge amount of loss for those companies.

Samsung has earned quite a reputation as a supplier of electronic companies. This was the main reason why Meizu chose the company to supply the processor for their new device. Furthermore, Meizu might have rendered it useless to wait for the new and improved Snapdragon 820 chip to launch. The processor is expected to be out before the year ends and will be implemented for devices that are coming out in 2016, Android Authority reported.

No rumors have been properly addressed by Samsung or Meizu at the moment.
