America's Tire and Discount Tire issued an order to recall around 80,000 SUV and light truck replacement tires. The recall order was issued after a recently discovered flaw that could led the tire's tread to separate.

The recall will affect certain Pathfinder tires which were manufactured from August 2013 up to May 2015. According to CNBC, selling of affected tires were stopped after May 19.

Discount Tire said that the tread problem on its tires began to surface in February when the company started receiving several reports claiming that tire treads tend to separate prematurely.

A bulletin posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website reads, "(Discount Tire) replacement light truck tires may have been manufactured with a inner liner gauge that is lower than specified. As a result, the tire tread may separate and cause rapid air pressure loss."

The recall covers the following tire designed for pickups and SUVs; Pathfinder SAT LT275/65R18E1 123S B, Pathfinder SAT LT265/70R17E1 121S B, Pathfinder SAT LT265/75R16E1 123Q W and Pathfinder SAT LT245/75R17E1 121R W.

Despite the severity of the problem, Discount Tire said that no accident or injury were reported involving the recently discovered tire tread flaw.

As part of the recall, Discount Tire will contact those who purchased the affected tires before Aug. 28. Owners of affected tires are advised to remove them immediately. Affected owners have the option to either get a free replacement tire or have a full refund. For owners who have already purchased a replacement tire, Discount Tire said that they will reimburse its cost.
