"Modern Family" and "Hot Pursuit" actress Sofia Vergara has snagged a role as Bart Simpson's teacher in the long-running animated sitcom "The Simpsons."
In "The Simpsons" season 27, a pubescent Bart Simpson has the hots for a sexy teacher who will be voiced over by Colombian-American actress Sofia Vergara.
As Mrs. Berrera, Vergara becomes the big crush of Bart, who has developed pubescent physical characteristics and grown-up feelings for her after drinking a milk substitute. The new teacher, who fills in the shoes of Mrs. Krabappel, gives the mischievous Simpson kid special attention, but is also drawn to Principal Skinner, whom she considers a pained soul, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Vergara as the super attractive teacher with a forgiving nature is something to look forward to during mid-season 27. At 43, Vergara is at the zenith of her career, becoming a series regular of the award-winning TV comedy series "Modern Family" and starring in films that include "Machete Kills," "New Year's Eve," and "Hot Pursuit."
The future wife of "Magic Mike XXL" actor Joe Manganiello, who has emerged as one of the highest paid Hollywood TV actresses, has lent her voice to other animated show characters. Her native accent has been heard on "Happy Feet Two" and "Family Guy."
A frequent cover girl of various magazines, Vergara is regarded by Hollywood insiders as being more than a gorgeous face and voluptuous body who engages in playful banter, Redbook reported. Close friends, including her fiancé, say Vergara can make them laugh like crazy.
"The Simpsons" producers found the Latina actress quite funny and she just may be cast in a recurring role in the long-running animated comedy. Incidentally, Vergara shoots "Modern Family" on the Fox lot where "The Simpsons" is produced.
Other celebrities who have been tapped to play parts in future episodes of "The Simpsons" are "Frozen" star Kristen Bell and "Girls" actress Lena Dunham.
"The Simpsons" season 27 is slated to air on Sept. 27.
