Microsoft Surface Pro 4 to counter 12-inch iPad Pro

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 features on release date will most likely threaten the upcoming iPad Pro.

Reports claimed that Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will pack high end specs and features that will give devices a run for their money. One of the selling points of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is the Skylake processor by Intel. The new chipset will be more powerful than Broadwell as it is the "tock" in Intel's "tick-tock" system.

The laplet will also run with the new Windows 10 operating system, which many consumers find faster and smoother than Windows 8.1.

Other rumored features of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are: 12-inch screen with 4K pixel resolution, stylus, and USB Type-C port. Other rumored features are keyboard accessory, Type Cover 3 and Docking Station. Other purported features of the tablet are 16GB RAM and up to 1TB internal storage.

According to reports, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 price is expected to be lower than Surface Pro 3 despite all of the upgraded and expensive features of the laptop-tablet hybrid. This assumption was based on the hefty discounts on Surface Pro 3 all year round. It seemed that Microsoft will just make the device more affordable than its usual price than offering deals and promos to make it more appealing to consumers.

On the other hand, Apple will reportedly release the iPad Pro this year. Taiwanese publication Economic Daily, there will be no iPad Air 3 this year in order to focus on the 12.9-inch "iPad Pro", and to remove some pressure on Foxconn, Apple's main manufacturing partner, which is working on Apple's iPhone as well.

The two tablets will have a showdown in October as both are rumored to be launched at the same time.
