In a different interview with Entertainment Weekly, Plec hinted a couple of possibilities for the characters who are still on the show including Damon, Stefan, Bonnie, Caroline, Matt, Alaric, Enzo, Lily and Tyler.

The interviewer played a game of Lightning Round with Plec to get the details. Apparently, Stefan is still trying to get back his "hero" reputation, according to Plec. Damon is going to deal with his past on the next season, while Bonnie will be there to help Damon sort everything out.

On the other hand, Season 7 will be a very exciting moment for Caroline since there will be a lot of "surprises in store" for her. Matt will still do the righteous thing and do his best to "protect and serve."

Then, Plec mentioned Alaric who she said will be more focused on drinking than in anything else for the next season. Enzo will also be a lost soul in season 7 as he tries to find his own comfort zone.

Lastly, Plec said Tyler will still be missing on season 7, but "The Vampire Diaries" will give out hints early on on where he could possibly be located.

"The Vampire Diaries" will return on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. EST on CW.
