Google just announced that Android M is version 6.0 and will be known as Marshmallow. Scheduled release date of the Lollipop sequel is late September and if rumors will prove correct the two Nexus 2015 handsets will launch with the new mobile operating system.

Google added that the final preview build of Android 6 Marshmallow is ready for download by Android app developers, meaning what is available is not the final cut and not for public consumption. The commercial Marshmallow build should become operational by Fall of 2015, the tech giant added.

However, for Android fans brave enough to test drive the new OS can pick the software image of the Marshmallow that BGR said have preview versions for both the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6. It should be noted that Google's new signature phones are rumored to reimagine the 2013 and 2014 models so running Marshmallow on these devices should provide real-feel of what the Nexus 2015 experience has to offer.

Heading to the official Android developer site, Nexus fans can get the versions of Marshmallow that will work on the Nexus 5 and 6. The BGR report reminded that one needs to pick the correct software to be flashed to ensure problem-free installation.

Once the download is completed, users can then consult this link for the flashing instructions.

The whole process seems straightforward and easy but BGR notes that Android flashing in not for everybody. Beta software, even in the ready-to-release form, means one thing - bugs or glitches remain lurking.

And even if the preliminary Android Marshmallow ride will prove smooth, users will have to start over once the official version is out. That means repeating the entire procedure - download the final build to a PC and flashing it anew to the Nexus 5 or 6. This is so in order for the device to access over-the-air software patches and updates.

So flashing the preview Android Marshmallow and experiencing it in advance might prove a thrill but it entails tedious work.

The better option is to wait out and hold on to Google's promise that Android 6 is operational, likely in the last week of September. And said to happen at the same time is the Nexus 2015 release date that will unpack the LG Nexus 5 2015 and Huawei Nexus 6 2015.
