Former "Beverly Hills 90210" star Shannen Doherty filed on Wednesday a lawsuit against her former business managers. Doherty blames them for the lapse in her Screen Actors Guild (SAG) medical insurance in 2014 due to alleged mismanagement of her finances.

The situation delayed her visit to doctors which she only did when she reacquired insurance coverage after she re-enrolled in SAG in early 2015. She claims it caused delay in diagnosis of her breast cancer which may need more drastic procedures such as possibly mastectomy and chemotherapy, reports Associated Press.

The 44-year-old actress got the doctor's diagnosis in March. The lawsuit says that her physician stated earlier treatment could have stopped the cancer's spread. However, a lawyer from the accounting firm Tanner Mainstain Glyrin & Johnson said it did not caused the lapse in Doherty's insurance.

But it did not provide an explanation. The lawyer, Randall Dean, said that the firm would defend itself against the actress's accusations, but added it was saddened by Doherty's suffering from cancer and wished for her full recovery.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that when it ended its business relationship with the actress, her insurance policy was cancelled.

Photographer Kurt Iswarienko, Doherty's husband, also filed a separate lawsuit against the company and Steven Blatt, a former partner in the accounting firm, for mismanagement of their finances that led to other financial troubles such as tax audits and liens. Having cancer has also prevented Doherty getting acting jobs, and the incurable ailment's spread caused her distress.

Devin McRae, Doherty's lawyer, said that the actress's business managers betrayed her trust, but hoped they would correct the betrayal in a responsible manner.
