"Inglourious Basterds" actress Lea Seydoux has been reported to play a female lead role in Rupert Wyatt's upcoming Marvel Comics film "Gambit."

According to Deadline, Seydoux received an offer from 20th Century Fox to play the role of Belladonna Boudreaux, also known as Bella. Along with the French actress in the studio's shortlist for the character were "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" actress Rebecca Ferguson and "Mad Max: Fury Road" star Abbey Lee.

It was reported that Ferguson dropped out for a role in Tate Taylor's thriller "The Girl on the Train" while there was no noted information on Lee. Seydoux will be the second actor to engage to the project if she accepts the role. While she has already established some "ass-kicking" skills, the actress will have to polish her combat handiness in Wyatt's film, as per Cinema Blend.

Aside from Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth's war drama "Inglourious Basterds," Seydoux also appeared in Brad Bird's "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," Abdellatif Kechiche's romantic drama "Blue Is the Warmest Color," and Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel." The actress is set to be seen in Sam Mendes' action thriller "Spectre" and Xavier Dolan's drama film "It's Only the End of the World."

Serving as Remy LeBaeu's childhood friend, Boudreaux is the granddaughter of the Assassin's Guild leader while LeBaeu is part of the Thieves Guild. In an effort to bring the two factions as one, LeBeau's and Boudreaux's parents tried to have them married; however, this did not materialize due the deeds of Bella's brother, Julien.

"Gambit" stands as one of Marvel's bullet films, in addition to Tim Miller's "Deadpool," as the studio switches its gear from Phase Two to Phase Three. At the moment, the film is set to showcase the origin story of the Cajun mutant; however, further details on cast members, characters, and plot are yet to be announced.

Wyatt's "Gambit" solo film is slated to premiere in the big screen in the United States on Oct. 7, 2016.
