Paula Deen, a former Food Network star, has been courted to be a contestant on the show since last year, Variety reported.

Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late Steve Irwin, hopes to make her dad proud of her participation. "I'm really, really excited and so honored to be a part of this new journey and new chapter of my life," she said.

Meanwhile, Alexa PenaVega, an American actress and singer recognized for her role as Carmen Cortez in the "Spy Kids" film series is most likely to unleash her dancing prowess on the show.

The final line-up of contestants will be revealed in the first week of September.

Jodie Sweetin, Caitlyn Jenner, and Rick Schroeder were approached for a DWTS gig. They had to turn down the offer to prioritize other commitments. Sweetin backed out because of her new Netflix series "Fuller House." Schroeder is currently doing NBC's "Coat of Colors." Jenner is stars in her own reality show "I Am Cait" on Sunday nights.

"Dancing with the Stars" returns in September, without one of its longtime judges Len Goodman. Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough will return as judges.

"Dancing with the Stars" Season 21 premieres on Sept. 14 at 8 pm Eastern Time on ABC.
