Placido Domingo, regarded as one of the world's top-class tenors along with the late Luciano Pavarotti, took the concert stage on Saturday evening, debuting at Macao before a crowd of over 1,000 spectators.
The Spanish operatic singer sang at the "Domingo and Macao Orchestra" together with his hand-picked sopranos, Micaela Oeste and Virginia Tola.
Domingo gave a spectacular show with his performances of operas, musical operettas and Spanish zarzuelas.
The 74-year-old singer also took the spotlight singing "Song of Seven Sons" with the Macao Youth Choir, one of the concert's highlights.
"After singing for so many, many years, for me it is truly exciting to sing in one place for the first time," he shared before the concert.
"I think the public has a right to find out, and even if people have heard the records or who have seen me on television, here many people will probably hear me the first time and the most important is to be in very good shape and feel some kind of connection," he added.
The Spanish talent also remarked that when he does not perform on stage, he would like to nurture and hone young artists.
"It's wonderful to work with young people, I have been learning quite a lot so I can pass something from generation to generation," he said.
Domingo has played over 146 opera roles in a thousand performances.
The top-calibre tenor is known for his strong and versatile voice. He is also acclaimed for having a ringing, dramatic tone throughout his voice's range.
