LG G4 Pro release on Oct. 1

LG has reportedly applied for trademark filing of a new phone called the LG G4 Note, which likely is the rumored super premium LG G4 Pro. As expected, the upcoming flagship is all geared to slug it out with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

And like the supersized Note 5, the main draw of the G4 Note is presumably its own version of the Samsung Note phablet S Pen stylus. But the report from Phandroid is unclear how exactly LG will label its own take of the input instrument that Samsung has practically resurrected from the dead.

The same Phandroid report was accompanied by a leaked photo that appears to showcase an LG G4 Note prototype. The image clearly showed that the G4 Note stylus will slide out from the top portion of the device. Its Note 5 counterpart slides out from the bottom of the phablet shell and is safely ensconced as a slightly protruding button when not in use.

Judging from the leaked picture so far, Android Guys is already concluding that the G4 Note stylus is far inferior when pitted against the Note 5 stylus, which has become more solidly built and technologically advanced thanks to five generations of rigid evolution.

But while the LG G4 Note stylus may not be as impressive as that of the Galaxy Note 5's, LG's phablet will pack specs and features that might be worth a second look. In fact, there are three solid reasons that could prove the G4 Note is the better buy over the fifth-gen original phablet.

Dual camera

LG has already clarified that its second 2015 flagship is not exactly the super premium phone that it was first reported to be but a key feature of the device could allow it to be ahead of the pack. The G4 Pro, and therefore the G4 Note, was earlier rumored to be equipped with a dual camera system that potentially will give the flagship DSLR-class shooting capabilities.

Removable back cover

It is likely too, according to Android Guys, that the LG G4 Note will have a removable back cover. If true that the device back cover can be easily peeled off then it will likely follow that the battery is replaceable.

Now this is a feature that the Note 5 skipped this year and turned off many Sammy fans, which LG can definitely capitalize on.

Memory card slot

Since the LG G4 Note rear plate is rumored to be removable, another possibility is the presence of a microSD slot that will allow users to expand the device's internal memory. Samsung again axed this feature on the Note 5 opting to limit the built-in storage to 32GB and 64GB with no prospect of memory expansion.

For the disappointed Samsung phablet fans, the LG G4 Note might be a good alternative as the extra memory slot could accommodate up to 128GB of additional storage space.

LG has yet to confirm but the LG G4 Note release date is rumored to be anytime within the fourth quarter of 2015 with the actual launch likely to happen as early as October.
