Veteran actor Glenn Morshower will be portraying General Lane in the series and he is described as a powerful military figure with an equally powerful protective streak as a father. He has plans to enlist Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) to join his secret military program to fight potential superhuman threats, Screenrant reported.

Morshower has been known in portraying high ranking military characters from several movies and TV shows such as "Transformers", "X-Men: First Class", "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "After Earth". With Sam Lanes over protective streak being a factor in the show, audiences will be interested to see what kind of relationship he has with his daughter, Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) knowing that she is friends super powered beings like Supergirl or her cousin Superman, who can be a future threat to humanity.

Aside from General Lane, "Salem" star Iddo Goldberg is added to the cast he portrays two DC characters in the show, Prof. T.O. Morrow and Red Tornado. Warner Bros. Television revealed that T.O. Marrow created Red Tornado for the United States military to combat threats that are too difficult for them to handle. Red Tornado became sentient and will likely cause trouble in National City leading to Supergirl trying stop it, ComicBook reported.

It unknown yet whether Goldberg's version of both T.O. Morrow and Red Tornado are the same person as it was speculated that Morrow's influence must have been programed into Red Tornado or an accident has somehow fused them togther into one being.

In other news, CBS chairman Nina Tassler stated that "Supergirl" TV series will not have any crossover episodes on both "Arrow" and "The Flash" anytime soon although she admitted she liked the plan. Tassler explained that making crossover episodes with two different shows is not that easy, as a showrunner must learn to respect and be mindful of which universe these characters came from and what not to do in the first place.

Although CBS has dismissed possible crossover episodes, they are still open to the idea. However, it would probably do it in another season of "Supergirl" TV series.

"Supergirl" season 1 will premier on Oct. 27 on CBS.
