"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder recently hinted on the possibility of having a baby with Candice Accola's Caroline in the upcoming season.
In an interview with E! News, Somerhalder was asked to react on Accola's real-life pregnancy.
At first, the actor joked that he did not know anything about his co-star's pregnancy. However, a little later he said that he knows Accola will be a cool and wonderful mom to her child.
Meanwhile, Somerhalder was asked to weigh in on rumors that Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline could have a baby in "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 because of Accola's real-life pregnancy.
Somerhalder said that the fans should not immediately assume that Caroline's baby, if there will be, is with Stefan. This is because Damon could also hook up with the character and give her a child.
"Why does it have to Stefan? Maybe it's Damon," he said.
The actor added that Damon could sleep with Caroline while he is trying to move on from Elena. This storyline is not impossible because Caroline and Elena were best friends, so the two of them have a connection.
However, Somerhalder said that if Stefan and Caroline will have a child, he is certain that the onscreen lovers would be responsible parents, according to Hollywood Life.
In other news, "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will see Damon reverting to his old self from season 1. In the wake of Elena's demise, Damon will resort to drinking alcohol with his good friend Alaric.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 28.
