"A lot of it was because of the new head writers Dena Higley and Josh Griffith, whose episodes began airing in July. They called me up, and just talking to them, I knew that they had history with the show, that they were trying to do something for the 50th anniversary that would tell people that Salem's back," he said.

Meanwhile, Reckell also revealed which storyline involving Bo was his most favorite of them all.

"The story with Roman, where he died, and we're on the beach... first of all, it was fun that we were on the beach. But also the relationship that I first came to the show with," he said.

Reckell also talked about the upcoming Bo and Hope reunion, that fans from all over the world have been waiting for.

"When Bo was written off before, it was so awkward. I don't know, it just didn't work. Her moving on or her holding on to him - it was just awkward, kind of weird. To have something happen during this time when Bo comes back, to explain what happened and help the audience through this change in the relationship, that's what these writers were able to do.

"Days of Our Lives" will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. The daytime soap opera airs from Monday to Friday on NBC.
