Angelina Jolie talked about rape by Islamic State that the militant group uses as a "policy" and tried to persuade a more effective action against the responsible ones.
The United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees envoy and 40-year old Hollywood actress actively campaigned against the use of sexual violence. Clearly, sexual slavery by the militant group, known as the Islamic State, was used as they abducted thousands of girls and women, raped them and sold them.
According to the Reuters, the U.N. and rights groups said that the militant group already declared last summer a dominion over Syria and Iraq.
The Golden Globe Award Best Actress also shared plundering stories of the girls she had met in the war zones. BBC News said that she said that they had been raped repeatedly and were even sold for only $40.
In line with this, it is very apparent that Jolie still strongly campaigned against sex crimes up to this moment since she had collaborated with William Hague, the former British foreign secretary, in 2012 and pledged that they would launch a preventive measure in fighting against sexual violence.
Hague, as a Member of Parliament stood down this year, stated that sexual violence were deliberately perpetrated during conflicts that reconciliation and peace would be harder to achieve. In addition, it would also be difficult to get the refugees out of the conflicting areas.
Later on during the hour-long meeting, she praised all the people who worked hard in this field and described them as her own "heroes," and she added that the policies and laws need to change and governments and leaderships have to come together to make the real change that can resolve this worldwide distress, especially for Muslim women.
