After a brief hiatus of three months, ABC's hit family drama series, "Modern Family," is set to make a comeback on the network with season 7 on Sept. 23.

"Modern Family" season 6 ended in a cliffhanger when Mitch (Jesse Taylor Ferguson) revealed to Cam (Eric Stonestreet) that he has been fired from the job. Although Cam appears relieved to hear the termination news as he was suspecting Mitch of hiding an affair instead, the upcoming season will bring out the tension in the couple's lives owing to the steep income cut.

The reckless teen Haley (Sarah Hydland) has now matured and will embark on an adult relationship with Andy (Adam Devine), International Business Times reported. The middle child Alex (Ariel Winter) will leave the household and goes to college. While Phil and Claire will fret over how their child will survive in the University, the thought of her getting involved with men will also haunt them.

But the couple's youngest child, Luke (Nolan Gould) will prove to be their biggest trouble as he will develop a criminal streak, resulting in a rift with his father Phil, showrunner Christopher Lloyd told Deadline.
