The Tender dating app launched a new feature on September 9, Wednesday called Super Like, as a new method for online mate selection. This feature shows ultra-high interest in a profile by a Swipe Up over the picture, revealing more attraction than a Like or Right Swipe.

Tinder users who receive the Super Like will see a blue footer on their admirer's profile. Until now, users could Swipe Right or Like to become a secret admirer of a profile, but only received an alert if there was a mutual Like, according to Tech Crunch.

However, a Swipe Up or Super Like shows an ultra-high level of interest. The app developer believes the new feature will result in better matchmaking, while CEO Sean Rad described it as greeting someone after making eye-to-eye contact from across a room.

Tinder users only have one Super Like to use in one day, according to 9News. This requires them to be very careful using them, or upgrade to Tinder Plus.

The company used a YouTube video to launch the new feature. It is oddly in the format of superhero movie trailer.

The clip shows a woman using the Tinder app while sitting in a diner, when bold online daters start bothering her in person. A blue-haired superheroine soon appears, and then throws the annoying guys out a window.

Super Like is one of several features that Tinder has unveiled during its history. Others include Passport, Rewind, and Moments.

The company has also altered its service due to certain trends. For instance, because some users selected Like for every profile to see who reciprocated their action, they must now upgrade to Tinder Plus for unlimited Likes.

Tinder has been credited as a game-changer in online "hook-up" culture.  However, it has also received criticism from traditionalists who claim it has ruined the dating experience, making many classic courtship rituals "dinosaur-like."

The Tinder app was initially released in September 2012. A total of 9 billion matches have been made on it.
