The recent Apple event showcased some of the new flagship from the Cupertino-based tech giant. Among the new devices unveiled at the event were new models of the Apple Watch.

According to CNet, Apple introduced new bands and color variants of its widely successful smartwatch. Apple also unveiled the new Apple Watch Sport model.

The Apple Watch Sport is available can be purchased in two color variants, rose gold and gold, both made of anodized aluminum. Pricing for the new variants are the same as the current gray and silver models. The two new color models also come in the standard 38mm and 42mm sizes.

According to Tech Crunch, Apple will also release new Watch bands. Currently, Apple Watch bands are only available in colors blue, black, green, red and white. Interested buyers can now choose from a new set of colors which are brown, pink and a Product band.

On top of the new color variants, the Apple Watch operating system also received a major update. Apple announced that the operating system update will roll out starting Sept. 16 and will now support third-party apps as well as performance improvements. The aptly named update, WatchOS 2, also introduces new watch faces and transit to Maps.

Perhaps the biggest announcement for the Apple Watch is the addition of native apps. Apple Watch apps can now run directly on the device rather than relying most of the processes on the user's phone.

During the presentation, Apple showcased the Facebook Messenger native app on the Apple Watch. Additionally, this is the Facebook's first app to be released on the Apple Watch. Apple also unveiled a new GoPro app that will be released in the future as well as the AirStrip and iTranslate app.
