"Outlander" star Graham McTavish (Douglas MacKenzie) has promised viewers more controversies with his character's plot in season 2.

McTavish is the War Chieftain of the Clan and uncle to the main protagonist, Jamie. Portrayed as an unpredictable character, MacKenzie has been depicted in season 1 both as a committed patriarch and a cruel, ambitious person who has the ability to do "unimaginable" things including manipulation.

Recently, McTavish appeared at the Fan Expo during the weekend and gave an explanation as to why his character cannot be categorized as either a villain or a hero.

The actor who appeared in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" films was quoted by Enstarz saying, "He's a great character because he is complicated. [H]e also has this love for Jaime - even while he's plotting to kill him, he saves him."

McTavish added that MacKenzie, in spite of being ruthless, he also has some compassion. Eventually, the character has his personal agenda, which is to reinstate the Stewart monarchy into power in Scotland.

As "Outlander" season 2 reaches the middle of its filming, the production is looking for an actress to play Brianna, the daughter of the main character Claire with Jamie.

Footage from the ongoing audition is available online revealing some applicants acting out scenes from Diana Gabaldon's books, on which the series is adapted, International Business Times reported. In one of the scenes, Brianna teaches Jamie how to put on a hat as a masquerade from the British soldiers.

The publication added that there were scenes between Claire and Brianna during the audition. A newspaper in Scotland has also called for the casting of local actress Karen Gillan for the same role. However, there is no official confirmation as to whether the production has found their actress for Claire.
