"Guardians of the Galaxy" actress Zoe Saldana has signed in on another comic book-based film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Saldana will star in Anders Walter's upcoming thriller film "I Kill Giants," which centers on a young girl named Barbara as she fight real and fictitious monsters in her life. Madison Wolfe is set to play Barbara while Saldana will play the role of a school psychologist who will help Barbara deal with threats. Their characters will develop an inspiring bond in the story.

Walter's "I Kill Giants" has some parallelism with Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch," according to Cinema Blend. Both films present the protagonist's desire to traverse an imaginary realm to escape the real world. While a number of films have failed in balancing such story elements, "I Kill Giants" has been looked forward to do well.

Meanwhile, Saldana is known for her roles in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek Into Darkness" and James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy." Aside from "I Kill Giants," the actress is also set to appear in Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond," Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2," and James Cameron's "Avatar" sequels.

With Walter set to helm the film, Joe Kelly is on board to pen the screenplay of the film.

Walter is known for his work like the short drama "Katusha," short family drama "Helium," and short sports drama "9 meter." Meanwhile, Kelly is known for his written work, including Michael Chang's "Superman vs. The Elite," Steve Ditko and Stan Lee's "Spider-Man," the animated television series "Bakugan Battle Brawlers" and "Ben 10: Omniverse."

Christopher Columbus will co-produce the film with Kelly, Kim Magnusson, Justin Nappi, and J.M. Ken Niimura. Columbus is known for directing the first two "Harry Potter films" namely, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." He also directed the comedy film "Home Alone" and wrote the screenplay for Richard Gooner's adventure film "The Goonies."

Since the project is in its early phase of development at this point, exact details on the plot, characters and cast, and release date are yet to be revealed.
