Working on that simple vision, the ASRB's task is to provide oversight especially on the electronics aspect of a car in order to provide more security and finally eliminate fatalities resulting from hacked automobiles. Additionally, the new board also plans to create a universally accepted standard and best security practice.

According to Popular Science, chips made by Intel are currently used by some BMW cars along with the Infiniti Q50 and the 2015 Hyundai Genesis.

Chosen members of the ASRB will run tests on this agreed standards and practices and will provide recommendation for providing the best cybersecurity solutions and products.

Intel cited a report published by Gartner in 2014 which claims that by 2020 there will be more than 150 million connected cars on the road. Majority of these connected cars will depend and share information from the Internet which in turn demands sophisticated and advanced information security protocols.

The recent increase of concern regarding car security was initiated after security researchers publicized their findings about the vulnerability of most modern cars to hacking. On top of this, Fiat Chrysler also announced a recall order for 1.4 million of its vehicles in the United States claiming that the units were susceptible to hackers.
