Rian Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII" has been reported to film in an Irish island.

According to Irish Examiner, Johnson's film is set to commence its production in Skellig Michael, the larger of the two Skellig Islands located west of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland; however, the weather in the island did not go along with the rest of the crew. Along with the weather, the sea swells inhibited the production team to access the island for filming.

Mark Hamill, who will reprise his role Luke Skywalker, was among the hundred members of the production team and he was accompanied by his three children for filming. Hamill's son Nathan was seen checking in at the Butler Arms Hotel in Waterville on Sept.14.

As per Cinema Blend, Skellig Michael could be a sanctuary for an ancient evil that needs to be guarded. The island could fit for such setting, since it cradled a Christian monastery between the sixth and eighth centuries. Due to its rich history, mysterious and haunting stories have also been attached to its name.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" stars Hamill, Oscar Isaac, and Benicio Del Toro. Since Johnson's film is in its early phase of development, exact details on the plot, additional characters, and cast members are yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, fans will be seeing J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" soon. The film is set 30 years following the events in the "Return of Jedi" and it unifies both old and new heroes and villains, including Isaac, Hamill, Simon Pegg, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, among others.

Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 26, 2017 while Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18.
