German company and automobile bucket seat manufacturer Recaro recently announced that it will issue a recall order for some of its faulty children's car seats. Reports claim that the seats could fail during a crash. More than 170,000 seats will be part of the latest recall order.

Recaro made the announcement on Sept. 17. Some report claim that Recaro children seats have the possibility to break during an accident, causing more harm than good to its user.

According to the New York Times, the issue with seats manufactured by Recaro was first discovered in late 2013 by the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The problem was discovered after a series of crash tests in order to check the compliance of the products with standards issued by the agency.

The NHTSA discovered that some parts that keeps the child seat secure has the tendency to break during a crash which could trigger the top part of the seat to fly forward. Federal regulators issued an order saying that the seats failed to adhere to federal safety standards and needs to be recalled.

At first, Recaro did not agree and filed a formal petition claiming that the recall is not necessary since the problem does not pose a serious safety problem.

After months of investigation and arguments, Recaro finally changed its position and issued a recall order. Details of the recall order can be downloaded on the official NHTSA website.

Following the recall order, Recaro president John Riedl issued a statement saying, "That's why even though there have been no reported incidents in the field, we are acting quickly."

Two models were to be recalled. The Recaro Perfomance Ride manufactured from Jan. 15, 2013 to June 9, 2015. The other is the Recaro ProRIde made from April 9, 2010 to June 9, 2015.

The recall order will only affect products sold in the US.
