After announcing its plan to adapt Japanese manga "Ajin: Demi Human" into an anime series, Netflix has also announced that season 1 of the adapted series will have 13 episodes.

According to Tech Times, the "Ajin: Demi Human" anime series will first run in Japan in January 2016, with Netflix subscribers having access to each episode three days after television airing. At the end of the initial run, the network will release the series globally in every country where it does business.

Gamon Sakurai created "Ajin: Demi Human" that was published in good! Afternoon magazine is a "seinen" manga targeting boys and men. The series began in 2012 and got licensed for English in 2014, where fans can read on Crunchyroll.

The storyline of the movie concerns a Japanese high school student who died instantly in a traffic accident before returning from the dead as an immortal "Ajin." His return from the dead makes him vulnerable to those hunting immortal beings, compelling him to spend most of his life on the run, with the only help offered by his best friend.

In 2014, the manga movie ended up almost at the top of the list of the Nationwide bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics, Anime News Network reported.

Meanwhile, the manga "Ajin: Demi Human" is the second animation series streamed by Netflix outside Japan after the network had breakthrough with streaming "Knights of Sidonia" last year. Last year's streaming was applauded by both fans and critics, resulting into bringing season 2 of the series to subscribers. In case Netflix emerges successful with "Ajin: Demi Human," fans should expect more original anime series from the service.

Sakurai's "Ajin: Demi Human" is also receiving the movie treatment as a trilogy with the same voice cast providing talent for the series.

The first film titled "Ajin, Part 1: Shodo" will open in Japan in November.
