Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users are still using Android KitKat 4.4.4 and are waiting for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.
There are rumors that Samsung is processing the release of Android Lollipop 5.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users. Both locked and unlocked versions of Galaxy Note 2 are awaiting this upgrade.
Numerous mid-range devices from Samsung are already running on Android Lollipop 5.1.1, making it a possibility for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users to get this upgrade soon. All the major mobile carriers in the US like US Cellular, Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T will get this upgrade, once it is released.
Rumors claimed that Samsung will roll out this upgrade after the release of Android Marshmallow upgrade on or after Sept. 29. It is also rumored that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will skip the Android Lollipop 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2, and the 5.1 versions, and will directly jump to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will bring a lot of notable features and improvements in the device, according to BGR. The Material Design will be improved, it will include more animations and the notifications tab will sport more options. Android Lollipop 5.1.1 will also add the feature of device sharing and device syncing, along with many security patches. The stage fright bug will also be fixed for once and for all.
When the users get the notification of the update, they just need to click on the "Install Now" options and then follow the on screen instructions. To manually check for the update, the users can go to Settings > About phone > Software update > Check for updates. The phone must be charged to at least 50 percent and connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection for quick update.
Meanwhile, CyanogenMod, custom ROM developer has released the CM12.1 Snapshot, which is a firmware update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2, according to Cyanogen Mod.
