The Hollywood Reporter took note that Universal Studios was still hunting for a director for "Fast 8," a title that has been hinted at before and was confirmed by Diesel in his aforementioned post.

The actor is also the producer on the race-centric series since 2008, a fact that he revealed to his fans as well.

Many believed that "Furious 7" was the concluding film of the series due to co-star Paul Walker's untimely passing, but his death may have galvanized the franchise to new heights.

The movie grossed $1.5 billion worldwide at the box-office since its release early this year. That's superhero-movie territory for Universal Studios and one that they can't turn their backs on, hence, an eighth installment to the franchise.

In his official Facebook page, Diesel thanked and praised his fans for their support since he became producer. At the same time, the actor explained what was taking them so long to find a director to "Fast 8," which was set to be released on 2017.

Diesel stated that there have been no offers yet to any director adding that no one has been slated to write the script as well.

He finished off his post by thanking Universal Studios for their goodness and trust, while also sharing that he promised them one last trilogy to end the franchise.

"Fast 8" will hit U.S. theaters on April 14, 2017.
