"Homeland" actor Damian Lewis has been rumored to be the next James Bond, also known as super spy 007.

Sources told Mirror that Lewis had been agreed with "an unofficial nod" as the top choice should Daniel Craig takes off his tux as the iconic super spy. it has been said that the actor is a flexible star in a global scale, along with his classy and suave looks that progress as he ages. While it is possible to see Lewis in the big screen as the next Bond, the information remains as a speculation at this point.

Lewis was not the only actor that has been attached to the iconic Bond role. Previous reports have revealed that "The Class of 92" actor David Beckham and "X-Men" actor Hugh Jackman have expressed their interest on playing super spy 007.

Beckman said that he was encouraged by fans to be the next Bond, which could help mold his experience as an actor. On the other hand, Jackman said that he was tapped by the producers of Sam Mendes' upcoming action thriller film "Spectre;" however, he declined because he was set to reprise his role as the adamantium-clawed mutant in James Mangold's upcoming "Wolverine" sequel.

Aside from the mystery thriller television series "Homeland," Lewis is also known for his roles in Lawrence Kasdan's horror sci-fi film "Dreamcatcher," Rand Ravich's crime drama television series "Life," and Rupert Wyatt's crime thriller film "The Escapist." He is set to appear in the historical drama series "To Appomattox" and Susanna White's thriller film "Our Kind of Traitor."

Meanwhile, Daniel Craig is set to play Bond in Mendes' "Spectre." The actor recently said that he had a life and it was time for him to start living it, which suggests that he might take off his tuxedo and pass the role to someone else. Craig has reportedly an open contract as Bond, which entails that Lewis, Beckham, or Jackman could nab the title super spy 007.

While Craig has expressed his thoughts on passing on the role to another actor, he had demonstrated excellence as Bond, according to Cinema Blend. This suggests that opportunities will be with him if he opts to retain the role.

Directed by Mendes, "Spectre" is set to hit theaters on Nov. 6.
