If reports are anything to go by, Moto X (2013) will start receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update this Friday. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is the newest available Android version.

Earlier reports also suggested that the Moto X (2013) and Moto X (2014) will receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update before the Android Marshmallow update.

The soak test of the build has already started, but Motorola is yet to begin the global rollout of the Android 5.1.1 update. According to a Geek Snack report, Moto X (2013) should begin getting the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update this Friday in France.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update comes with several features and improvements. Notification has more options and Material Design has been improved. In addition, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update features device syncing and device sharing.

In addition to fixing a number of problems and improving features, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will also prepare the handset for Android Marshmallow.

Nexus smartphones will be the first to get the Android Marshmallow update, according to  PC Advisor. The update will begin rolling out to Nexus devices next week.

Reports suggest that the Moto X devices will be last ones from the Motorola series to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Furthermore, the Moto X Pure Edition will be the first one to get the new update. It is expected that the electronics maker Motorola will begin the rollout with the Moto X Pure in December.

The Android Marshmallow update comes with several new changes and improvements such as improved enumeration support, a rotatable home screen, API level 23 and updated options for emergency calls.
