"Review" season 2 finale titled "Conspiracy Theory" aired on Oct. 1, Thursday, on Comedy Central. The mockumentary comedy series creator Andy Daly, plays professional critic Forrest MacNeil in the show, recently shared his thoughts about the finale.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Daly said he planned to have "Review" season s end the confrontation with Grant (James Urbaniak) from the beginning and that was how they were going to end season 1 but it appeared to be a little too extreme and a little too crazy.
Daly added that they chose to end "Review" season 1 when A.J. Gibbs (Megan Stevenson) gives his character an out. He said his character finally does the right thing and makes the only good decision he has ever made.
This was MacNeil's decision to punch-out Grant, escape from the show, run back to his wife and deal with his marriage issues. Daly described it as an uplifting ending.
According to Daly, the whole conspiracy theory concept seemed "a little too meta" in "Review" season 1 so they changed it up. However, they always had it in their back pocket as something to do, and they revisited for "Review" season 2.
Meanwhile, Stevenson revealed that he did not enjoy kicking Daly in the groin for "Review" season 2. She told Paste, "A.J. had a ton of fun, but Megan Stevenson was not a fan."
As compared to what was seen in the Comedy Central series, Stevenson actually had to kick Daly more in the groin because she had a problem getting the correct leg movement with her spiky heels making it difficult.
