In a meeting with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said that the economies of China and Bulgaria complement each other and have a wide range of prospects for cooperation. Plevneliev, the first head of state to visit Chia in 2014, is on a four-day state visit that coincides with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bulgaria.

Li said that China would like to contribute a part in Bulgarian infrastructure construction with China's advanced technologies and wide and relevant experience in high-speed rail, highways, nuclear power and hydropower.

China also supports the idea of China and Bulgaria working more closely in the fields of agriculture, science, education and tourism. China likewise looks forward to Bulgaria creating favorable conditions for Chinese investors and in expediting visa procedures for Chinese tourists, Li added.

Li emphasized China's commitment in establishing cooperation with central and western European countries, promising to implement leaders' consensus and work for the Chinese as well as central and western Europeans.

Top Chinese legislator Zhang Dejiang also met with Plevneliev later on Tuesday. Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), pointed out the good foundation of cooperation that exists between the NPC and the Bulgarian Congress, and asked for increased exchange of experiences in legislature and state governance between the two countries.

Plevneliev said Bulgaria likes to work more closely with China and welcomes Chinese businesses' participation in Bulgarian infrastructure and in other sectors. He added that Bulgaria will work on promoting relations with China and in promoting relations between China and central and Western Europe.
