"Wolverine 3's" plot details is rumored to be based on "Old Man Logan" by Mark Miller and Steve McNiven which features an old and seasoned Logan/Wolverine trying to survived a dystopian future ruled by Marvel's notorious villains. Miller explained the plot for "Wolverine 3" could be broken down into several steps the same they did in "Old Man Logan" comparing it into a road movie and some of the characters present in the storyline such as Hawkeye and Hulk could be replaced by Cyclops and Blob.

The film's plot could explore more of the relationship between Logan (Jackman) and Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) as that of a "father and son" bound. Jackman stated that the bound between Logan and Xavier could strengthen in the movie, as Stewart's character treated Logan like a student and guide, but he is not seen yet as a father figure to him and audiences might get to see this side of him in "Wolverine 3".

In other news, new characters from the X-Men mythos could possibly join "Wolverine 3" anytime soon.

Since "Wolverine 3" one of Jackman's final performance as the iconic X-Man, several fans decided that the film should have atleast have some familiar faces in Logans life. Rogue and Cyclops are hinted to join the film due to the unique relationship they have with Logan with Rogue (Anna Paquin) treating him like a surrogate father and Cyclops (James Marsden) as rival to Jean Grey's (Famke Janssen) heart, Cinemablend reported.

Logan will also meet new faces in the film such as the Russian mutant Omega Red and Laura Kinney/X-23, his female clone. But one of the most requested character by the fans is the return of Victor Creed/Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber) in "Wolverine 3".

Jackman once hinted that he wanted Schreiber back in the film due to a tweet he posted to his "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" co-star several months back. Schreiber told Jimmy Fallon in "The Tonight Show" hat he is likely open with the idea of returning to his character in "Wolverine 3", even joking about an "Old Man Sabretooth" in the film.

"Wolverine" will release in cinemas on March 3, 2017.
