Jennifer Aniston, 46, is the latest Hollywood actress to lend her face to a Gulf carrier and create a bit of a stir. The "She's Funny That Way" and "We're the Millers" actress appears in the latest advert of Emirates.

The recently remarried actress is seen wandering around a plane clad in a white bathrobe looking for a shower, gets ridiculed by the cabin crew, and then awakens with a jolt from her  "nightmare" to find herself in a first-class Emirates flight.

Certain sectors believe appearing in the Emirates advertisement is courting trouble, since it seems to be an indirect jab at American airlines' inadequate amenities.

Aniston received a whopping $5 million from Emirates for her participation in the company's global digital and television campaign, Page Six reported.

While Emirates has Aniston, Etihad Airways signed up Nicole Kidman, 48, to front its global brand campaign.  The Etihad campaign featuring the Academy Award-winning actress was launched in May, coinciding with the world premiere of the television commercial.

Etihad prides itself for the values it represents but the Association of Professional Flight Attendants saw things differently. Kidman came under fire for appearing in the Etihad advertisements.

The association  pointed out that the airline company adhered to appalling business practices, and Kidman's position as Goodwill Ambassador of UN Women ran counter to those practices. A contingent came to Kidman's defense on Twitter sphere, E! News reported.

Emirates and Etihad are two of the world's fast-expanding carriers with immediate and long-term growth plans. Getting high-profile celebrity brand ambassadors is expected to inspire target audiences and bring other significant advantages.

Other celebrities who have touted international carriers and appeared in their advertisements in the past were actors Orlando Bloom and Kevin Costner, NBA star Kobe Bryant, plus  several others. Oftentimes, though, celebrities use private aircraft to get to their destinations.
