It is about two years since the release of "Gran Turismo 6" for PS3, which implies that it is about this time when fans expect to hear concerning the next-gen "Gran Turismo 7" for the current PS4 console. Latest rumors indicate that the upcoming "Gran Turismo" will deliver something great to the latest installment - a virtual reality experience.

Sony PlayStation had been working hard to develop its virtual reality technology. Last year, the company first demonstrated its "Project Morpheus" during the 2014 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. At the time, SCE President Shuhei Yoshida was in attendance.

During the presentation, Yoshida pointed out that driving games are among the most apparent apps for the VR headset. The statement spurred speculations that the technology would make it to "Gran Turismo 7." Rumors even heightened further because Yoshida is on the Polyphony board of directors as well.

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, the SCE president emphasized on his intentions to bring PS VR to GT7.

Eurogamer said, "You've got some great properties that would be a great fit for VR too. I'm thinking something like Gran Turismo. Would that make sense?"

Yoshida responded by saying, "Many trial tests we've been doing, some genres work just fine. One of those genres is racing games. So when Gran Turismo comes out on PS4, I'd like to see it support PlayStation VR, yeah."

While Yoshida's statement is not a confirmation for the release of the next-gen "Gran Turismo 7," the intent from one of the board of directors is real. According to GT Planet, it is vital for fans to remember that the Driveclub was the first PS4-exclusive racing game meant to support PS VR. The president himself indicated that the application caused motion complications and still needed perfection.

This, however, does not mean that VR for racing sims is a flop. Assetto Corsa, Project CARS, and Grid Autosport all have Oculus Rift support for the PC.
