The suspenseful series which ran for nine consecutive seasons in the past, had its first episode of its latest season 10 screened at the event, followed by a panel discussion comprising show creator Chris Carter, Duchovny and Mitch Pileggi, who plays FBI director Walter Skinner, according to USA Today.

During the informal discussion Carter told the gathering, the idea to resurrect the series took place when 20th Century Fox alerted him, that Duchovny was willing to engage in another "X -Files" series. Carter said that the show was essentially written with  hardcore fans in mind, along  with a few elements that have been added to lure in newbies to the show.

The latest season of the epic thriller is said to comprise a fusion of popular conspiracy theories, alien led  lore along with a bit of government crackdowns.

While the premiere of the season, together with the finale will be supported by previous "series' mythology" the rest of the episodes are set to be standalone installments.

Meanwhile, fans can expect to learn more, about the child of character's Mulder and Scully, who was given up for adoption towards the latter part of the previous season. Carter said "more clues are provided throughout the episode," Entertainment Weekly reported.

In addition, Carter said the events that have transpired between the two main leads will not be revealed on the show through flashbacks.  "We'll deal with the here and now and trust that people will understand where they have  come from," Carter was quoted as saying, while  adding that none of the episodes will be "sequels to the old series."
