Just when you thought Google has run out of ideas for their products, reports have emerged that the top secret workers for Google X might be working on a new approach for display technology.

According to an insider, Google X is on the works regarding displays that come in all shape and sizes  and they are reportedly to fit together as integrated pieces. The project has been likened to that of the Lego blocks.

If the screen is to be formed, users will be able to see just one unified large display. Cool huh? It's like the building blocks for adults. It's really something that you could show off to your friends once you have it.

The insider claims that the idea was from a former MIT professor and is not the head of the display research at Google X, Mary Lou Jepsen. Jepsens was also the founder of Pixel Qi, a company that develops low-power mobile screens so people can read messages from it even if under direct sunlight.

Another source commented on the rumored project saying that: "The big challenge is to electronically, and through software, do the stitching between the seams."

However, if such project will be pursued, it might not be welcomed very well since the Nexus smartphone and Chrome notebooks engineered by Google X had mixed reactions from critics and experts.

On the other hand, Google's Google Glass and self-driving car show promising results in the near future.

Google is definitely venturing into technological advances but we have to wait for further announcements regarding the said project.
