Author George R.R. Martin who penned, "A Song Of Ice And Fire" from which the Emmy winning "Game Of Thrones," fantasy series was inspired, may see a parallel  sister series emerge, as yet another of the  author's work has been offered for a pilot TV show.

The author announced on his blog Live Journal recently that a short story which he wrote in the 80s has been offered for a TV show by HBO's sister company, Cinemax. The short story titled "The Skin Trade" had originally been published as part of a horror anthology, called "Night Vision" which included stories by Stephen King and Dan Simmons.

According to Martin, the story is an "offbeat werewolf-noir novella," and is currently at a pilot script stage. However, the author is optimistic as he stated, "If they like the script, we'll shoot a pilot, if they like that, hey, who knows, maybe we'll get a series on the air."

According to the Huffington Post, "Once Upon A Time" and  "Prison Break" scriptwriter Kalinda Vazquez has been brought on board to work on the script of the pilot. The story is said to evolve around a private investigator - Randi Wade, who befriends a collection agent who happens to be a werewolf.

Impressed with Vasquez's take on the lead roles, Martin said the actress loves the story and really understands the characters. He was quick to put "Game Of Thrones" fans at ease who feared he would not work on the much anticipated sixth installment of "A Song Of Ice And Fire," saga -"The Winds Of Winter."

Martin has said while he would loved to have been the one to write the pilot script, "it has never been in the cards. I have this book to finish." Meanwhile, in addition to finishing up his book, Martin is also busy with three more TV shows, including "Game Of Thrones" season 6 set to air in 2016.
