There is a new speculation that Jon Snow may be alive in the "Winds of Winter" book.

At the Emmy's Award Show, the host Andy Samberg said that the "Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin had confided in him that Snow was alive. "Thanks for telling me during the commercial that Jon Snow is alive," Samberg said. It is not known whether Samberg was joking or really giving away a critical spoiler of "Game of Thrones" Season 6, according to iDigital Times.

After this incident, there is also speculation that Martin may have meant that Snow is still alive in the book series, even though he may have succumbed to his injuries in the television show.

In the past as well, there has been a case when a character is very much alive in the book series despite being killed off in the television series. The "Game of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin has confirmed that Stannis is well and alive in his book series.

Martin revealed that one of the characters who died in the TV show "Game of Thrones" will still be alive in his upcoming book "Winds of Winter". This answer was in response to a fan's question on Not A Blog Live Journal. The question which this fan asked was whether or not Stannis Baratheon was alive.

It was shown in the last episode of the recently concluded Season 5 of "Game of Throne" that Brienne of Tarth was pointing her sword at Stannis, to fulfil her oath of killing Renly's murderer. It was however not clearly shown if or not Stannis received the deathly blow of The Oathkeeper. The director of the episode, David Nutter, confirmed that Stannis actually died in this episode, without a doubt.

However, in the books, the battle scene is yet to be written. Martin is anyway famous for giving witty hints to his reader about the forthcoming seasons and books.

He made another witty comment with "The wannabe king is not dead" in his books. He further said that he is alive beyond any doubt. Martin stated earlier that he came up with a mind blowing twist for "Winds of Winter", which will drive all his readers absolutely crazy. He also said he is still making the decision whether or not to go with that plot twist.
