Zhang Bichen
Zhang Bichen proves through winning at the hit reality singing competition, Voice of China, that her ambitions to be a singer is just her destiny.
The final set of the competition was held at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, night of Oct. 7. Zhang competed against Parhat, 32, from Xinjiang in the final round. Parhat sang the folk song "Why Are the Flowers So Red," while Zhang crooned the ballad "Where Did the Time Go?".
Zhang's passionate singing gained her more than 60 percent of the votes of the stadium audience and the favor of the 101-member jury.
Originally from Tianjin, Zhang went to South Korea, where she trained under Haeun Entertainment. She eventually joined K-pop group Sunny Days alongside seven Korean girls.
American-educated finalist Yu Feng, 22, came third in the contest, while Chinese-American finalist Qin Yuzi, 26, came fourth.
Li Wei and Zhou Shen's duet of "Lake Baikal" won song of the year. At the highlight of the night, they performed the duet again.
Voice of China is a Chinese reality talent show, which premiered in 2012. Produced by Zhejiang Television, the program is part of The Voice franchise and is based from the original Dutch program The Voice of Holland.
The series consists of three phases: a blind audition, a battle phase and live performance shows. Before the singing face-offs, the four coaches pick from the passing contestants who will be part of their teams. The next phase includes face-offs between two members, from which the coach chooses one who will advance to the live performance stage. The final phase involves battle of live performances among the remaining contestants.
