Xbox's backwards compatibility feature has no doubt given Microsoft the boost in their Xbox One console sales; however, Phil Spencer also revealed that the said feature came a long way and has literally racked at least a year before it was finally launched. According to Attack of the Fan Boy, one of the reasons they have created the backwards compatibility is the demand from fans. He also admitted that the integration of the games have not been easy because of the difference in design and concept of Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Spencer also revealed his excitement seeing some of Xbox 360's original games being played on Xbox One, but what's most interesting about his revelations is his eagerness to eventually see original Xbox 360 games made playable on PCs.

Meanwhile, in a report by Forbes, it looks like Xbox will never be able to catch up with PS4 when it comes to sales revenue. Spencer admitted that if ever there comes a time they get anywhere near PS4's sales, it would be this holiday season. Part of their backwards compatibility feature has also been an attempt to catch up on sales and bring back previous Xbox 360 owners on their side of the business.

In respond to a question about the competition between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 he said "You know, I don't know. You know the length of the generation. They have a huge lead and they have a good product. I love the content, the games line-up that we have."
