While Netflix is still mum about "Longmire" season 5 renewal, fans of the western-themed crime drama find themselves in the same situation they were last year as they fought to save the show from cancellation. The show just wrapped up its season 4 last Sept. 10, and fans are already pushing that Netflix picks up for a fifth installment.

"Longmire" fans considered Netflix as their beloved show's savior last year after picking it up at the verge of cancellation by A&E. It came as a shock when A&E cancelled the show after season 3. At that time, the streaming company said that although "Longmire" garnered positive reviews and good ratings, it failed to fit its demographic target.

Fans took to social media convincing Warner Horizon Television to look for a network that would continue with the story arc based on Craig Johnson's novel "Walt Longmire Mysteries," according to Deadline. The show was finally picked up by Netflix.

The current move by fans to take to the social media is meant to prevent "Longmire" to have another brush with cancellation. Conventionally, Netflix is known to take some time before calling for renewals of their original series like "Orange is the New Black" and Marvel's "Daredevil."

In the case of "Longmire" the company would like to see the numbers of season 4 before deciding. Since it just a month after the release of the fourth season, it may take a while to determine whether the show deserves a renewal or not.

Although Netflix has not issued an official announcement about the fate of "Longmire," actress Ally Walker is convinced that the show will come back for a season 5. Talking to Parade, the profiler said that she is pretty sure that she will return to reprise her role as Dr. Donna Sue Monahan.

In an attempt to do what was done last year, the show's dedicated fans called Longmire Posse have come together to offer their support and see more of Sheriff Walt Longmire stories. The group organized an event, whose information can be found at the show's Facebook page, on Oct. 7 to push for season 5.

Netflix and Longmire pages will see every share on Facebook of a Longmire Posse post because the two will be tagged. Furthermore, fans are reminded that in case they will be retweeting something reklated to "Longmire", they should ensure that the content is retweeted along with the hashtag and the @netflix tag.

So far, the group has over 50,000 likes and the main concern is whether this will be sufficient for Netflix or any other interested network to realize the significance for a renewal.
