‘Chinese Zodiac’ Star Jackie Chan Talks About Retiring, Hong Kong Protests

Action movie superstar Jackie Chan has changed his mind about when to retire. At the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, the Hong Kong martial arts movie star said he was just retiring from making action movies.

However, in an interview for the promotion of 2012-released "Chinese Zodiac," Chan said he will let his body decide when to quit, China Daily reported.

After appearing in more than 150 films, Chan now produces, directs and writes his own movies in Asia, including "Chinese Zodiac," which won Best Feature Film (Foreign), Golden Jury Award and Viewers' Choice during the 11th Abuja International Film Festival on Sept. 26. On the same film festival, Chan also won Best Director.

Turning 60 years old, Chan said he would see how far he could go until his body tells him "stop." After five decades of doing his own stunts in his action movies, Chan admitted he now gets hurt and "it gets really tiring not like it used to be." But what he does not want to reveal is how he stays in great shape.

Chan is afraid Hollywood will force him to use a stunt double for his action movies since he does not believe he would ever be cast in dramatic Hollywood movies.

Describing himself as a "pretty good singer," Chan said nobody hires him to do films like "Kramer vs. Kramer" and "Sound of Music," as he is only known for action-comedy films.

"All we think about Jackie Chan: Chris Tucker, 'Rush Hour' one, two, three," he said.

Meanwhile, Chan recently took to Weibo, a Chinese version of Twitter, to comment on the current Hong Kong protests.

After learning that Hong Kong lost HK$350 billion ($45 billion), Chan is really worried, but he is willing to work hard with everybody and "return to rationality, to face the future, love our country, love our Hong Kong."
